Tellychakkar.com had earlier reported about Sachin Parikh’s (who plays Sanjay Vyas) views about not being part of Colors’ Na Bole Tum... Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2 (Sunshine Productions). Viewers would have by now understood that the pivotal characters of Season 1, Vedkant Vyas (Anjjan Srivastava), Saroj Vedkant Vyas (Madhuri Bhandiwdekar), Indu Bhatnagar (Neelu Kohli) have been conspicuously missing from the ongoing season of the fiction show.
As per the story line, a narrative has been given that Megha’s (Aakansha Singh) in-laws, Mr and Mrs Vyas have retired from the materialistic world and are now residing in an ashram. With the absence of Indu, viewers also don’t have an opportunity to witness how she would have reacted to the developments in her dear son’s life, of him being separated from his wife, being a doting dad to an adopted little girl and also being quite financially solvent instead of being the struggler (as seen in Season one).
So why are these prominent characters from Season One missing? Our source told us that veteran actor Anjjan Srivastava who is currently starring as Detective Wagle on Doordarshan’s Detective Wagle refused to be a part of Season 2 as he was disappointed with the story line of the second season. As far as Neelu is concerned, she was not called back by the channel to be part of the second season.
We hear that all this is because the channel feels that they should focus on the main characters, and the fact is that they have not decided on playing with the minor characters as they are not conducive to garnering TRPs.
So has the elimination of such beautifully essayed characters brought down the quality of the show? Only time will tell.. As of now, we are thankful that at least the characters like Renu Vyas (Rinku Karmakar), Bela Vyas (Madhuri Sanjeev) and Tanmay Vyas (Akhlaque Khan) have been retained in Season 2.
We have heard repeatedly that the focus of the second season is presently on the introduction of new characters. However the fact is that the missing characters will be greatly missed as the show goes on.. But wait, since the narrative has not been given to these characters being dead, a remote possibility of seeing these characters sooner or later in the show cannot be erased.
Tellychakkar.com recently had a poll which revealed that the younger Nanhi (Ashnoor Kaur) is way popular than the older Nanhi (Jayshree Venketaramanan) of Season 2.
This may actually indicate the fact that the writers need to work much harder on the growth of the new characters.
On the creative side, we also hear that many writers have joined and left the show as they were unhappy with the way the channel was developing the story. When the first season had started, it was a chirpy show. Later fans were upset with the track of Riddhima (Prinal Oberoi) who played the obsessive unrequited lover of Mohan (Kunal Karan Kapoor).
The first season in its concluding episodes had very somber hospital scenes of a neck down paralyzed Megha (who however did get better with Lord Ganesha’s blessings in the last episode). Season 2 does have the merry moments that Season one initially had. However with Megha’s son Addu being missing for 12 years it can’t exactly be called a merry serial anymore.
So what are the positives that have come out of Season 2? Well, the briskly played title track of Na Bole is catchy, and needs to be played often.
Taking all these points into consideration, we contacted producer Sudhir Sharma to listen to his side of the story. Regarding certain characters not being a part of the second season he explained, “The current track doesn’t require certain characters as of now. They will be shown as and when required. It is untrue that the channel didn’t want certain characters to be a part of season two as they felt that they wouldn’t attract TRPs. There is no correlation between TRP and some characters being there.”
So what is his take on writers leaving the show as they were unhappy with the way the channel and production house wanted the story to unfold? He said, “That is so not true. You have just been hearing rumours. Writer Venita Coelho is a dear friend and did work with us in the beginning. However as she lives in Goa and it is very tough for her to work with us on daily episodes as she can’t attend meetings as she lives in a different city. She however still advises us whenever necessary. It is true that Sonal Ganatra had wanted a break from the show, but it’s not because she was unhappy with the storyline. She is in fact the writer of my next yet-to-be-titled show. Talented writers Aseem Arora and Anand Vardhan are still a part of the project.”
Regarding Na Bole Tum... Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2 not being a cheerful season like the first season he said, “In the earlier season there were sad moments too. The death of Megha’s first husband Amar Vyas was indeed a great tragedy. We didn’t intend to make a comedy after all. For comedies there is SAB TV. Na Bole Tum is primarily a love story. It’s a romance with both light and somber moments. I however do agree that the current track of season 2 isn’t really happy. Our main focus is however how the separated lovers Megha and Mohan meet after such a great tragedy has occurred in their family.”
What is his take on the child Nanhi being more popular than the older Nanhi? “Both Ashnoor and Jayshree are good actors. It will take a while for the older Nanhi to grow in the viewers’ minds.”
The producer however did like our idea of Bela falling in love and getting remarried. He said, “That is a lovely idea and maybe we would like to work on that.”
Bela may have left her youth decades back, however falling in love has no age cut off after all. The show’s prime focus on widow remarriage (as was in the first season) will thereby beautifully be continued.
We did contact Colors’ Fiction Head Prashant Bhatt. However he didn’t revert.
Na Bole Tum... Na Maine Kuch Kaha is a highly popular serial.Mohan and Megha’s love story is very endearing. The characters have left an indelible impression on the minds of the viewers. Very few shows after all have a second season because of fans’ demand. We hope to see Na Bole Tum... Na Maine Kuch Kaha showing the right mix of new and old characters, and this might even provide the required balance in the story line..
