“I Want To Do Action Scenes : Mohit Raina”

Q. Did you have to undergo any special training to play the role of Shiv?
A. I met Nikhilji and he explained to me his idea about the show and how he planned to proceed with it. So unlike any other meeting when one ponders over the story or the role offered and makes a decision, here I was not only clear that I was going to take up this role but, I had already started thinking in terms of my value additions to it! Soon after I met him I knew I have the biggest opportunity of my life which not everyone is fortunate enough to have! So I had begun to put my thoughts together on this role and mentally started preparing for it even before I had started to shoot. And yes I had worked on my physique and fitness.

Q. What kind of roles do you like to play?
A. I love doing action scenes, given an opportunity I would surely like to work in action movies. And as you know that I was able to work well in my ‘roudra’(enraged) avatar, this was liked by the audience and I believe there are two reasons why this particular track has worked so well for the show; one is the graphics used, which is Nikhil sir’s forte and the other is my inclination for working on action sequence. So that combination seemed to work in favor of the show. I would love to be a part of Superman or Batman series sometime in future.

Q. Is it very cumbersome to sit for the make- up? how long do you take to get ready for the shoot?
A. Well, you see there is a whole big team of make-up artists out there who are ready to attack me the moment I enter the green room…they take a lot of effort and pay attention to every minute detail of the look. So I take nearly 90 minutes before I begin with the shoot.

Q. So what do you do stay fit?
A. One can only work out some exercises to stay fit given the hectic shoot schedules we have it is not really possible to go to the gym daily besides, the set is too far and isolated so even if I manage to work out say thrice a week is good enough for me.

Q. Do you like reading mythological books?
A. When I had decided to take up this role I thought let me read a little about it. But before I could go further my seniors in the show had already done plenty of research and had a huge information bank with them. So they gave me the complete set of data which they had ready with them, so all I had to do was study it thoroughly and use it in the right way.

Q.  Who are your favorite co stars?
A. Well my all time favorite is Nandi! While, I have not been able to watch his performance since we have different shoot schedules and we also work in different sets, but there was one incident that I remember when I had once seen him giving his shot. He was supposed to fall and cry….but when he fell, he held fists tightly closed and I could see him use every single muscle of his hands not only that his crying too was so natural….nandi is my rockstar I tell you! And then we also have narad…we are ‘kailashwasi’ (inhabitants of Kailash) later Sati comes to Kailash but she comes from a palace and all those who live in palaces are different.

Q Who is your favorite actor?
A. My favorite actors are Denzel Washington and Shah Rukh Khan.

Q. Which is your favorite book?
A There is a book in particular which I like reading, it is 25 success principles, written by Jack Canfield.

Q. What kind of food do you like to eat?
A. Food cooked by my mother is what I relish the most.

Q. Tell us about your favorite holiday destinations.
A. Kashmir of course since it is my hometown. Greece and Switzerland rank high on my vacation list.
as told to our correspondent.
