Geet will never come back; fans should move on

Gurmeet Choudhary And Drashti Dhami
It was last year, the same day as today when innumerable fans of Gurmeet Choudhary and Drashti Dhami were heartbroken as their favourite Star One showGeet - Hui Sabse Parayi bid goodbye. But these diehard fans have not yet given up and continue to fight an online campaign to have their favourite Mann Singh Khurana and Geet back.
However our source, who was once deeply connected with the creative team of Geet, says, “There is no chance of it coming back and the fans should finally move on.” When asked as to what made Geet such a hit in the first place, the source pointed at the wonderful script. “If you remember, when this Four Lions Films’ co-production first got going, it was not based on office romance and the setting was in Punjab.
Gurmeet’s look also was more casual. But this family track was not appreciated by the audience and we internally had to make changes keeping in mind that the audiences’ taste. Hence, the story moved to Delhi and do did the subsequent corporate love stories. This really set the show ablaze.”
When asked how much did the acting of the leads contribute to the show’s popularity among the youth, our source averred, “Let’s face the fact; when Geet had started Drashti was just an ok actor in spite of doing Dil Mil Gayee and well, Guru had just done Ramayan. We told them exactly which range to perform in and they did just the same.
Then a major change happened in Geet when the old creatives quit the channel. This was the time when the story control weakened, for newer folk always find it tough to get a grip on things and the actors ended up becoming more important than the script. Since then, Gurmeet has gone on to become one of the most well-paid actors on the idiot box and he and Drashti still publicly recognize the role of Geet in their careers.”
The source also felt bad that a lot of brickbats were being directed towards producer Gul Khan for taking off the show. “But, it was a channel’s call and as insiders we know that Gul was never creatively involved with show and she was only managing things.”
