A good make-up can complete a woman’s day. Khushi, Jeevika, Sandhya, Akshara and Pankhuri share five simple tips every woman should keep in mind to take care of her make-up set.

Regular cleaning - Be sure to clean the dust that gathers on the shelves or drawers where you store your make-up items, like bottles and tubes. This helps to avoid spoilage and ensures that the contents of your make-up kit such as face wash and moisturizers last long. Also, the bathroom is not an ideal place to keep your cosmetics as the humidity can be damaging to its contents especially a skin-care lotion or a face wash.
Jeevika:
Check expiry dates - It is a good practice to keep a note of the dates when you must have purchased the items of your make up kit. This helps you in buying fresh cosmetics as the older ones near their expiry dates. It is prudent to dispose a mascara after every three months and liquid foundation every six months.

Sandhya:
Prevention against skin infection - Skin infections are an obvious outcome of sharing cosmetics especially a powder brush or blush. It is always advisable to use your own make up tool or keep an extra one if the need arises for an emergency make up session. I regularly wash all my make up brushes and prefer keeping them in a brush pouch.

Fasten bottle lids – Most of the times foundation and mascara bottles are not closed properly. This leads to unnecessary contamination which otherwise can be prevented. Also, cleaning the bottle openings with a wet cloth will remove deposits of dirt and dried foundation or mascara.
Cleansing of tweezers and eyebrow scissors - It is better to sanitize metal based tools like tweezers and scissors with alcohol wipes. That is the standard practice. This will curb infections and ensure that these tools last long. I generally use essential oils to sterilize my tweezers and eyebrow scissors.
